Teletherapy Best Practices

Teletherapy offers a convenient online option for addressing emotional and psychological concerns and can be comparable to meeting in person. To protect your privacy and help you get the most from your appointment, please review the checklist below before your session.

Critical safety note: For your safety, you cannot be driving or operating machinery during your teletherapy session.
Before Your Appointment

Prepare Your Space and Technology

  • Ensure privacy and safety: Set up your computer or phone in a private space where no one is within earshot.
  • Minimize distractions: Turn off televisions, radios, notifications, and anything else that may interrupt your session.
  • Optimize your audio: Confirm that your headphones or earbuds are connected and working properly before logging in.
  • Improve your connection: When using a phone, turning off Wi-Fi and using mobile data may help prevent the call from dropping.
  • Orient your device: If you are using a phone, place it securely in landscape, or horizontal, orientation.
  • Log in early: Please access your online member portal five minutes before your appointment to address any technical issues.
  • Maintain visibility: Your camera must remain on throughout the entire session so we can meet face-to-face.
  • Dress appropriately: Clients are required to remain fully clothed throughout the teletherapy session.
